This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for July 10.

An adult male COMMON MERGANSER was at the Piute Ponds from July 2-7.

A COMMON GROUND-DOVE continues at Linden H. Chandler Preserve in Rolling Hills Estates. It was reported again on July 5.

The YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO found at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on July 1 continued to be reported through July 6. It was in the tamarisks along C-Dike between 100 and 300 yards east of the portable restroom. Remember that a letter of permission is required for entry.

A LESSER NIGHTHAWK was at Madrona Marsh in Torrance on July 5. Preserve hours are 10-5 Tuesday through Sunday.

A flyover male SUMMER TANAGER was reported in Sun Valley on July 9.
