COMMON LOONS were at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB (Letter of permission required) from July 12-15 and at Quail Lake near Gorman on July 11. Also at the Piute Ponds was a SORA from July 12-15.

A MISSISSIPPI KITE was found at the South Coast Botanic Garden on the Palo Verdes Peninsula on July 10. It remained through July 13, but has not been reported since. It was observed primarily along the south side road but was also foraging high in the air and well away from the gardens.

The COMMON GROUND-DOVE continues at Linden H. Chandler Preserve in Rolling Hills Estates. It was reported again on July 12.

A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was at Blue Ridge Campground in the San Gabriel Mountains on July 12.

A male INDIGO BUNTING was in Big Tujunga Wash on July 12. From the end of Tujunga Valley Street this bird was about 100 yards downstream along the riparian strip.
