This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for June 10.

A COMMON MERGANSER was along the LA River south of the Los Feliz crossing on June 5.

The GLOSSY IBIS in the Sepulveda Basin continued through June 5. It has been searched for an not seen since. It was being seen along the LA River below Burbank Blvd. and north of the dam. Easiest parking is along Woodley just north of Burbank Blvd., then walking south and then west to get to the river. A White-faced Ibis has also been reported here recently and continues.

Three WILSON’S PHALAROPES were at the Ballona Salt Pan on June 4, with a RED KNOT there on June 8. From the end of Pacific Ave in Playa del Rey, walk up the south side Ballona Creek berm- the salt pan will be to your right.

An ARCTIC TERN was at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB from June 3-6 and a LEAST TERN was present on June 7. Also continuing there were both a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER through June 8 and a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER through June 4. Remember that a letter of permission is required for entry.

An AMERICAN REDSTART was found on San Clemente Island on June 7 and a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK continued there through June 7.

A male INDIGO BUNTING was at Malibu Creek State Park from June 5-7. It has been seen near the grassland trail near where it departs the main pathway to the Visitor’s Center.
