This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for June 17.

A RIDGWAY’S RAIL continued at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh through June 15. It is being seen (or at least heard) near the “elbow” of the marsh by the corner of Lincoln and Jefferson. There is ample parking on Jefferson Blvd.

A GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL was at Apollo Park near Lancaster from June 10-13.

A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was found on San Clemente Island on June 16.

Eight VERMILION FLYCATCHERS were at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora on June 12.

Another VERMILION FLYCATCHER was at the Piute Ponds (east of the gazebo) on Edwards AFB- letter of permission required- on June 14.

A female HOODED WARBLER was at Apollo Park near Lancaster on June 12. It was in the middle row of the three tamarisk rows just outside the west side of the park.

An AMERICAN REDSTART was at a residence in Altadena on June 10.

ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS were at residences in Long Beach on June 10 and in Topanga on June 13.

The male INDIGO BUNTING continued at Malibu Creek State Park through June 15. It is being seen near the grassland trail near where it departs the main pathway to the Visitor’s Center.
