Obi's presentation will cover the book, its unique organization and cartography, and the larger role of what he calls geographic literacy and its crucial role in the fight to defend the natural world of California. The California Field Atlas takes readers off the beaten path and outside normal conceptions of California, revealing its myriad ecologies, topographies, and histories with hundreds of exquisite hand-painted maps and trail paintings..

What: Book Signing and Lecture
Special February program — books signing with Obi Kaufmann on a Monday night at Debs Park. Obi’s CALIFORNIA FIELD ATLAS is a phenomenal testimony to the natural world of Golden State unlike anything that has come before. Full of character and color, the California Field Atlas has quickly become a new classic, being hailed as a "gorgeously illustrated compendium" (Sunset Magazine) that "...will provide you with a greater appreciation for the state's ecological jewels and landmarks. Kaufmann's writing offers us hope during this trying time for conservationism and climactic pushback." (San Francisco Chronicle). Obi will be presenting the book with a short presentation and Q&A session and then offer signed copies for sale.
